Welcome to Lokl. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Lokl mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service") provided by Lokl Technologies Ltd ("Lokl", "we", "our", or "us"), a company registered in Nigeria.

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using Lokl, you represent that you meet this requirement.

2. Your Account

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • Notify us immediately at support@imlokl.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Post false, misleading, or defamatory content about any business or person.
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
  • Attempt to claim ownership of a business you do not represent.
  • Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited communications.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise extract data from the platform without written permission.
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose under Nigerian law or international law.

4. Business Listings and Claims

4.1 Accuracy

Lokl aggregates publicly available business data. If you own or represent a business, you may claim your listing to manage the information displayed. You warrant that all information you submit is accurate and up to date.

4.2 Lokl Reviews

Lokl may publish editorial reviews of businesses based on independent research. These reviews reflect Lokl's editorial opinion and are clearly labelled. Business owners may not demand removal of editorial reviews that are factually accurate.

4.3 User Reviews

User reviews must reflect genuine experiences. Fake, incentivised, or retaliatory reviews violate these Terms and may be removed.

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 Lokl Content

All platform content, branding, and software are owned by or licensed to Lokl. You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written consent.

5.2 User Content

You retain ownership of content you submit (reviews, posts, photos). By submitting content, you grant Lokl a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, distribute, and moderate that content within the Service.

6. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data and is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Lokl does not guarantee the accuracy of business listings, hours, or contact information, as these may change without notice.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lokl shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, revenue, or reputation.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes shall be resolved by arbitration in Lagos, Nigeria, in accordance with the Arbitration and Conciliation Act (Cap A18 LFN 2004).

10. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
